Karis Neighbour Scheme (KNS) is seeking new Trustees to help lead and shape the future of our well-established and much-loved charity.
For over 25 years, KNS has been bringing hope, practical support and connection to people in Ladywood and Edgbaston. Through our dedicated volunteers and projects, we offer emotional support, befriending, advocacy and practical help to individuals and families facing challenging circumstances.

The Role of Trustee
As a Trustee, you will play a vital role in:
- Providing strong governance and strategic oversight
- Ensuring the charity fulfils its charitable objectives
- Safeguarding our values, resources and long-term sustainability
- Helping shape and deliver our strategic direction
- Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, including charity and company law
We are seeking individuals who:
- Believe in the mission and values of KNS
- Are committed Christians (see Statement of Faith and Guiding Principles document)
- Understand and value good governance
- Bring sound judgement, integrity and strategic thinking
- Are committed to serving the local community
- Charity Law
- Finance
- Human Resources
Time Commitment & Support
We aim to make trusteeship both meaningful and manageable.
- Board meetings are held four times per year, in person at the KNS office (two morning and two evening meetings).
- Preparation and follow-up take approximately half a day per meeting.
- We estimate the overall time commitment to be around one day per month.
- Trustees may also attend occasional events or become involved in specific initiatives.
- Reasonable expenses are reimbursed.
- A full induction programme
- A buddy system for support and mentoring
- Ongoing training and development opportunities
- An annual away day to review performance and plan strategically
